I know from personal experience how stressful it can be to sell a home in NYC. Over the last 15 years, I went from first time homebuyer, to investor, to multi property seller. When we first arrived in NYC in 1999 from Germany, we had no US credit history and most landlords were hesitant to sign a lease. We were lucky renting a top floor apartment in a Park Slope Brownstone from a landlord whose parents were originally from Germany – it is all about connecting.

We started to form roots in Park Slope, so we decided to buy a parlor floor co-op on the same block where we were renting. It was a “for sale by owner” and anything that could possibly have gone wrong went wrong in this transaction but it was home sweet home in the end.

We saved up the next down payments and bought two investment properties. When I had my eyes on yet another property, my husband “wanted his Sundays back” and it was time to turn my passion into my profession: I joined Douglas Elliman where I ranked number two by transaction.

On a sunny Tuesday morning in 2013, we closed the sale of our apartment and raced down 7th Ave in Park Slope to close on our townhouse right after – post possession was the key to successfully closing two properties on the same day.
