Located directly east of Prospect Park, Prospect Lefferts Gardens is one of Brooklyn’s emerging neighborhoods. The area is very diverse these days but has been dominated by Afro-Caribbean culture in the past. Many of the shops and restaurants in the area still exhibit this cultural presence despite the changing influences of other cuisines. The highlight of the neighborhood is the proximity to Prospect Park, which is Brooklyn’s premier public green space. The historic Lefferts Family House, the namesake for the neighborhood, is found in the park and is now a museum that displays life in the area in the 1820’s. Wollman Rink, which is found nearby, is a great attraction during cold weather for the whole family. North of Prospect Lefferts Gardens is the Brooklyn Botanical Garden, a beautiful place for a day trip to explore various types of plant life.
Prospect Lefferts Garden is a wonderful and inviting community for any resident interested in exploring various ethnicities and cultural attractions in the heart of Brooklyn and seeking a short commute into Manhattan via express trains.
