“It was all a dream,” said the late rapper, Notorious B.I.G., who grew up in the Clinton Hill area. A century prior to that, the neighborhood was a huge inspiration for many of Walt Whitman’s poems while he lived on the “Hill”. These days the Pratt Institute is the educational center of the area. Pratt offers some of the nation’s finest architecture, interior design, and art programs at a post-secondary level. The Institute regularly houses student exhibitions for the public and creates an artistic culture for the area. Several other cultural institutions in the area add to the local significance of Clinton Hill and its Historic District, which includes the late 19th-century mansions along Clinton Avenue
Clinton Hill will continue to be a historic and intellectually-inspiring part of Brooklyn for years to come, and a wonderful place to live and learn.
